Best Commercial Jet

Those of you have flown the McDonnell Douglas’ fantastic MD-80, or Super 80, know that it is the fastest-climbing and quietest plane on the market. Like you, we bemoaned Boeing taking over this aircraft, effectively killing it. The Bombardier CRJ900 ($37 million) gets our vote as the true successor to the Super 80. The CRJ900 cruises at max speeds of Mach 0.83 (547 mph/881 kph) at altitudes of up to 41,000 feet (12,500m).

American has just announced that they will begin retiring their Super 80s, as they’re also known, replacing them with that rotund 737. W think the Bombardier CRJ900, is a worthy successor to the MD-80. Delta, Lufthansa, Northwest and other airlines fly this gem. A recent flight between Munich and Amsterdam was awesome. Only the 747 flies higher.
