Best Media Player

On October 17, 2001, Apple launched the iPod to mixed reviews. With more than 206 million iPods sold, the critics have been silenced. What makes the iPod line such a hit is its superior ease of use and iTunes store integration. The iPod Nano ($149; 8GB) continues Apple’s innovation streak, and is the best portable music player on the market today.
The first iPod generation featured a black-and-white display, a 5GB capacity, and cost $399. The newest Apple iPod Nano has a color LCD, 8GB capacity, comes in nine colors while costing just $149. And if you want to go big, you can get a 16GB model for $199.
Let this be a lesson for Silicon Valley: simplify, simplify, simplify! Our time-compressed, multi-tasking masses just don’t have the bandwidth to deal with complicated interfaces. And Mr. “Mixed Review,” please stay in hiding.
